My name is Tessa and I love to make things. I started as a child inspired by my mother who sewed a lot of my childhood clothes. I was formally taught to sew in high school making a (hideous) skirt, but it wasn't until 2015 at the age of 34 that I picked it up again in a more serious way with the goal of creating an entirely handmade wardrobe.. which I am still working on. It's about the journey, not the destination, right?
My passion for sewing grew and in 2017 I decided to start an online sewing business and then promptly became pregnant... Everything got put on pause while I figured out life with a baby! I still haven't got it all figured it out (do you ever?) but the drive to create my own sewing business returned and in 2019 I launched Sew Far Sew Good.
For me, sewing has a magical way of slowing down time and creating flow in my life. It is a way to express my creativity and create clothes that fit my unique (after-baby) body. Sewing gives me the wonderful satisfaction of creating something with my own hands. It also lets me touch, talk about and purchase amazing fabric! What's not to love?
My vision is simple; to share my passion for sewing by curating a selection of independently designed patterns to help and support others on their sewing journey. This amazing (and growing) group of designers put their heart and soul into creating modern designs that are accessible to even the newest of beginner sewists, and I think that is worth supporting.
